The Jean Monnet Chair EUVALWEB is overjoyed with the tremendous success of its mission to Bucharest as part of the project “A Network of Security in Europe”, which is being carried out in collaboration with the National Association of Magistrates of Salerno, the State Police, the Giffoni Film Festival and the Council Bar Association of Salerno.
The mock trial on the topic of sextortion, which took place on the morning of April 17 at the Italian International School “Aldo Moro” in Bucharest (Romania), aimed to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of the Internet, where they can become victims of crimes with serious consequences for their psychophysical integrity and growth.
The results have exceeded our expectations, causing a flurry of debate among young people who want to know all of the tools for self-protection and prevention.
The enthusiastic support of the initiative from the school’s governing bodies and the Italian Embassy in Bucharest has demonstrated how important these topics are perceived by all public and private stakeholders.
The Italy-Romania bilateral meeting on criminal judicial cooperation, held at the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Cassation in Bucharest in the afternoon, with the participation of the Ambassador of Italy in Bucharest, H.E. Mr. Alfredo Durante Mangoni, and the coordination of Dr. Fulvio Baldi, Deputy General Prosecutor at the Italian Court of Cassation and Member of the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory, saw the Italian delegation discuss with the Dr. Alex Florența, Prosecutor General of Romania, POHCCJ, and the other Romanian prosecutors the issues of the fight against transnational crimes and the instruments of prevention and enforcement.
The meeting confirmed that relations between the two countries are in excellent health, encouraging further cooperation to address some existing critical issues.
Prof. Teresa Russo, Holder of the Jean Monnet Chair EUVALWEB, wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to all institutions and authorities involved for their efforts, which resulted in a significant increase in EUVALWEB scientific and educational activities promoting European Union values.
In addition, these opportunities create important professional synergies and crucial human relationships.

In her seminar, Dr. Francesca Iervolino captivated the audience by elucidating the pragmatic implementation of European and Italian legislation concerning international protection.
Her professional background enabled to draw attention to the current challenges faced by pratictioners in defending the rights of migrants. Discussions with the students included the need to pass laws other than those currently being passed in the European Union.

The scientific outcomes of our workshop on “European Investigation Order (EIO) and the Acquisition of ‘Communications’. Analysis of Italian and European Case Law” on March 21, 2024, have truly satisfied us.
In the light of European law and Court of Justice case law, it enabled us to make sense of the various investigative activities allowed by the Italian order, as well as the concepts of data and communications in general.
It was feasible to highlight the important concerns from the perspectives of judges and lawyers, as well as students and civil society representatives, during the speakers’ and other participants’ discussions.
We appreciate our knowledgeable speakers!
