Today’s seminars covered important aspects of relationships between the Member and Acceding States and the European Union within the framework of international, European, and constitutional-national law.

The first seminar by Professor Ana Nikodinovska Krstevska highlighted the difficulties faced by North Macedonia in acquiring membership in the United Nations, NATO, and now the European Union.

The second seminar, on the other hand, by Prof. Marieta Safta gave an insight into the Romanian constitutional system in general and, in particular, the changes that took place in order to become a member of the European Union, as well as the difficult dialogue between the Romanian Constitutional Court in affirming the concept of national identity and the Court of Justice in safeguarding the primacy of EU law.

A huge thank you to the two brilliant professors for the high scientific contribution of their lectures.

We are very pleased to continue the didactic-scientific initiatives of the Jean Monnet Chair EUVALWEB with two interesting seminars that will both take place on 30 November.

Within the framework of the course of International Organisation (Castellano Hall, 10:30 a.m.), the first seminar will be opened by the introduction of Prof. Teresa Russo, the EUVALWEB Chair’s Holder, and followed by Prof. Ana Nikodinovska Krstevska‘s speech on “Comparative Approach to North Macedonia’s Membership in the United Nations and the European Union”.

The second seminar, on the other hand, will be held in the Constitutional Law course (Lecture Hall 3, 12:30 p.m.) by Prof. Panebianco (Member of the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory), who will open the proceedings together with Prof. Russo. Following this, Prof. Marieta Safta will give her lecture on “General Introduction to Romanian Constitutional Law and Its Relationship with EU Law“.

The seminars are open to all. Do not miss this opportunity!

Today’s seminar offered its participants a very interesting cross-section of international regionalism, starting from the African and Asian areas, thanks to the remarks of Prof. Piero Pennetta, to the Latin American area through the lens of the Romanist Prof. Orisel Hernández Aguilar and of the international law lawyer, Achille Bianchi, in relation with the European Union.

Prof. Massimo Panebianco’s conclusions then admirably bridged the different areas of the world for a systemic reading of the intricate situation of current international relations between States.

The work will be addressed by Francesco Fasolino (Director of the DSG UNISA Department) and introduced by Teresa Russo (Associate Professor of EU Law). In particular, the discussants of the day will be Piero Pennetta (Former Full Professor of International Law), Orisel Hernández Aguilar (Law Professor at the Universidad “Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca” de Pinar del Río) and Achille Bianchi (Lawyer at the Salerno Bar). Additionally, Massimo Panebianco (Emeritus Professor of International Law) will draw some closing remarks.

Another great response from the audience!

We are more than happy with the outcome of last Tuesday’s seminar, jointly organized by the JM Chair EUVALWEB and the JM Modules EU-DRAW and DECDP.

Offering insights and critics on the relationship between judicial cooperation, IAs and cybersecurity with the human rights, as a sensitive topic, was not an easy task, but the distinguished speakers were able to deliver it in a compelling and intriguing way. For that, we thank them as much as the students who stepped up to ask their questions during the open debate!

Thank you again!

We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the Law Clinic last Friday, 17 November 2023, on the practical topic of EU Agencies.

In particular, the Clinic not only tried to frame these agencies, but also illustrated some of the main issues that have characterised them over the years.
