Dr. Cascone, Adriatic and Western Balkans Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Italy) and Member of the EUVALWEB Team Chair met with the students of the Chair’s Course and held a seminar illustrating the Balkan enlargement process up to the present day and the role of the Italian State in this process.

Dr. Cascone’s participation aroused great interest among the students, who asked a series of questions. This made the difficulties of the Balkan countries clearer and promoted public awareness, which is the main goal of the Jean Monnet EUVALWEB Chair. The event was also attended by Albanian students and Prof. Erjon Hitaj, Lecturer of International Law, Head of Department of Law, University ‘Ismail Qemali’ of Vlöre (Albania) and Member of the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory, who took part in the public discussion.

The first Module of the EUVALWEB Chair’s Course closed with great interest.

The participating students, both Italian and Albanian and Erasmus students, deepened their understanding of the process of European integration from its origins to the present day, realizing how the construction of the Communities first and the Union later was intended to provide peace, solidarity and prosperity for the peoples and countries of the EU, accession and neighbouring countries. The study of the main provisions of the TEU and TFEU on competences and their exercise and objectives outlined the framework of the Union’s internal and external action, bringing students closer to a reasoned study of European Union law.
