EUWEB Legal Essays: Global & International Perspectives, classified by ANVUR as scientific review for area 12, is pleased to invite submissions for the upcoming Issue 2/2026, which will be published on July 31, 2026.
We welcome submissions that fall within the Journal’s broader scope, particularly those that address the Union’s enlargement and future prospects, its external borders and action, and neighbourhood, cross-border security, migration and asylum, the fight against transnational crimes, police and judicial cooperation, the promotion and protection of the Unionì’s values, and the fundamental rights of all individuals.
Everybody interested is invited to submit a paper in one of the following categories:
1) Essay: may discuss a broader theme; requires adequate references and footnotes; needs to be supported with an in-depth study of legal acts, literature and case-law; peer reviewed (min 7,000 words, footnotes included).
2) Comment: dwells on a more limited topic; requires adequate references and footnotes; needs to be supported with an in-depth study of legal acts, literature and case-law; peer reviewed (min 6,000 words, footnotes included).
3) Focus: reserved for professionals; provides a technical perspective on a certain matter; footnotes
or references required; peer reviewed (min 3,000 words).
4) Conference speech: reproduces and expands a speech/presentation already held in a scientific event; no footnotes or references required; not peer reviewed (min 3,000 words).
The deadline for submitting the title and a short abstract (max 250 words) is April 12, 2026. The full article, in conformity with attached editorial criteria, must be submitted by June 5, 2026, to allow for double-blind peer review.

Mission in Albania – March 2026
The EUVALWEB Legal Observatory at the Department of Legal Sciences of the University of Salerno arrived to Tirana, Albania, with the project “A Network of Safety in Europe” – Second Edition, carried out in collaboration with the National Magistrates Association – District of Salerno, the State Police, the autonomous body Giffoni Experience, and the Bar Association of Salerno. The project includes a series of initiatives involving academics, professionals, university and school students, and Albanian civil society.
This will be followed by a mock trial on the crime of deepfake at the “Ismail Qemali” High School, aimed at raising awareness among younger generations about the criminal risks and legal consequences associated with the improper use of social networks. Political representatives will also participate, engaging in discussions with young people on the concept of body neutrality. There will also be informal meetings at the Albanian School of Magistracy, as well as between Italian and Albanian police forces.

Iceland’s EU Accession Referendum – 9 March 2026
Iceland will hold a referendum on Aug. 29 to decide whether to relaunch its stalled talks to join the EU, its government said Friday. A resolution is expected to be presented to Parliament next week, according to Minister for Foreign Affairs Kristrún Frostadóttir.
The Arctic country applied for EU membership in 2009 amid a financial crisis but froze talks in 2013 after a dispute over fishing policy and formally withdrew its application in 2015. Currently, Iceland is a member of the European Economic Area and part of the Schengen free travel area.

From the standpoint of public authorities, the seminar on the European Union’s security strategy was a success.
The students listened with keen interest to the remarks of Professor Virgilio D’Antonio, Rector of the University of Salerno; Giancarlo Conticchio, Police Commissioner of the Province of Salerno; and Alfonso Mignone, an expert in maritime law, on security on land and at sea.
“We need more Europe” was the response given when a student enquired about the scope of the Union’s security-related regulatory engagement.
Finally, the certificate given to the students and Young Observers of the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory was a moment of joy and camaraderie.

The results of the workshop “The EU in Its International Institutional Relationship” with the students of International Organisation course had us genuinely thrilled. The features of the selected organisational model and their connections to the European Union were emphasised in their presentations.
The top three winners were also revealed; they will be given awards in January 2026.

The EU approach to security from the point of view of public authorities – 4 December 2025
On Thursday 4 December 2025, at 12.30 pm – in Room 1 of the Department of Legal Sciences (DSG) of the University of Salerno – the Seminar entitled “The EU approach to security from the point of view of public authorities” will be held. The Seminar is part of the activities of the EU Legal Clinic Cooperation on Justice and Home Affairs: Knowledges and the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory (DSG UNISA), aimed at promoting specialized and professionalizing training for students, involving academics, professionals and representatives of the Authorities.
After the institutional greetings of the Magnificent Rector, Prof. Virgilio D’Antonio, and the Director of the Department of Legal Sciences, Prof. Francesco Fasolino, the Seminar, introduced and moderated by Prof. Teresa Russo, Associate of European Union Law, Head of the Clinic and Director of the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory, DSG UNISA, will be animated by the reports of Giancarlo Conticchio, Police Commissioner of the Province of Salerno, and by Alfonso Mignone, Expert in Navigation Law (DSG UNISA).
The event will end with the Certificate Award Ceremony to the students of the Workshop on the Enlargement of the European Union of the European Union Law course – a.y. 2024/2025 and to the Young Observers (2025) of the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory.
The EU in Its International Institutional Relationship – 1, 2 & 4 December 2025
EUVALWEB presents its workshop “The EU in Its International Institutional Relationship”, convened for December 1, 2 and 4 2025, at the University of Salerno.
Workshops are a key activity of the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory, serving as both a practical application of the knowledge students have gained and a crucial testing ground for them. Following the training exercises conducted as part of the Department of Legal Sciences’ (UNISA) International Organisation course, and with the assistance of Prof. Teresa Russo, Founder and Director of the the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory, the students will be asked to describe the relationship between a few international organisations and the European Union in their scientific research.
